Actor Sanjay Dutt, who has been sentenced to five years in jail in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case, has assured the makers of his three under-production films - Zanjeer, Policegiri and Peekay - that he will complete the projects before he is imprisoned.

The Supreme Court last week upheld Sanjay Dutt's conviction under the Arms Act for illegally possessing weapons, and sent him to five years' imprisonment. The 53-year-old has already spent 18 months in jail. He was convicted by the TADA court for illegal possession of a 9 mm pistol and an AK-56 rifle.

Despite the trauma that Sanjay Dutt is going through, he met the filmmakers at his residence in Pali Hill and assured them that he will complete their projects. A friend of the actor, who spent the entire day and night at the Dutts' residence, said: "Yes, Sanju Sir has made a commitment. Zanjeer requires three more days, Rajkumar Hirani's Peekay requires seven more days and Policegiri needs 17 days to be completed."

"In spite of the shock that he went through on (March 21) Thursday (of hearing the honourable Supreme Court's verdict), Sanju Sir assured the Zanjeer director Apoorva Lakhia, Peekay maker Rajkumar Hirani and the Policegiri producer T.P.Aggarwal that their films would be completed. Sanju Sir told them, 'Boss, let's complete the shooting and my dubbing. Pataa nahin aage kya hoga (Who knows what will happen in future)'."

Sanjay Dutt is expected to get started on the projects this week, as he has been asked by the Supreme Court to surrender within four weeks of the verdict.

"The commitment stunned all of us," said the friend.

A source said, "Actually, the enormity of the court verdict didn't sink in to Sanju sir on Thursday. All day and night we surrounded him and kept him busy. TP Aggarwal even fed Sanju Sir biryani with his own hands. We kept the atmosphere in his house very very light."

"Guests kept dropping in. All his friends were there. Ranbir Kapoor, Vidya Balan and Farhan Akhtar came towards evening. We all narrated anecdotes from Sanju sir's wild days to Ranbir since he wasn't even born in Sanju sir's Rocky days."

However, Sanjay Dutt's wife Maanyata was extremely upset.

"She was inconsolable. She put up a brave front, but she kept breaking down throughout the day. It's a shocker for the entire family. Sanju sir hasn't even begun to understand what this means. We are all hoping for a miracle," added the source.

Ranbir Kapoor, who has teamed up with this ex-girlfriend Deepika Padukone in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, says that there was no awkwardness while working together as he shares a comfort level with her.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani led gossip mongers speaking about their getting back together as a couple. But Ranbir is unperturbed.

"I don't take such talk seriously. We don't come as a package. Deepika and I have moved on as individuals and as actors," Ranbir Kapoor said.

But isn't it awkward to work with her? Ranbir says, "No... not at all. That would be unfair to the film. We are all professionals."

The 30-year-old, who earlier worked with Deepika Padukone in Bachna Ae Haseeno, is full praises for the actress.

"She is passionate and ambitious. When you come across someone who is as motivated as you are, the experience of working together is terrific. I share a deep comfort level with her," he said.

After working in Siddharth Anand's romantic film Bachna Ae Haseeno in 2008, Ranbir Kapoor worked in Rajneeti, Rockstar and Barfi!.

But he mostly stayed away from typical romances. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani will see him revisit the genre. Ranbir Kapoor argues that this isn't his comeback to romantic cinema.

"All my films have had a strong romantic tale underneath. This is the story of a guy who grows up from a 21-year-old boy to a 30-year-old man. It's an urban film with characters that are closer to today's youth," Ranbir Kapoor said.

Also, Ranbir Kapoor is back to working with director Ayan Mukherjee after four years (Wake Up Sid in 2009).

"In that film, my character was a slacker, but in this film I have found myself. It deals with the relationship, heartbreak and ambitions of four people," he said.

Produced by Karan Johar, the film will release on May 31.

According to reports, she came into contact with a live electric wire while she was shooting a Tamil film. She was rushed to the hospital and her condition is now said to be normal.

She has also acted in a recent hit film "Seetamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu" starred by Venkatesh and Mahesh Babu. 

Southern actress Taapsee Pannu, who is working with veteran actor Rishi Kapoor in forthcoming film Chashme Baddoor, confessed to him about her crush on his actor son Ranbir.

"While on the sets, Rishiji and Taapsee bonded well over food and films, their two favourite things. Taapsee blushed at the very mention of Ranbir," said a source.

"She confessed to him that she is a huge fan of Ranbir's work. 'Rockstar' is her favourite film," added the source.

Taapsee, a popular name down south, is making her Bollywood debut with Chashme Baddoor, a remake of Sai Paranjpye-directed and Farooque Sheikh and Deepti Naval-starrer buddy film of 1981 of the same name.

Directed by David Dhawan and produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, the film also features Ali Zafar, Siddharth and Divyendu Sharma. It is releasing April 5.
